About Beginning Learning
Beginning Learning is run by a husband-and-wife team: Amy, a preschool teacher (and former first- and fourth-grade teacher) who creates hands-on games and workbooks for her students, and her husband, who builds the tools around her ideas.
We started this site because first-year teachers and homeschool parents kept asking the same questions: How do I set up my room? What do I actually need to buy? What does a good day look like for a four-year-old? The answers are scattered across hundreds of blogs and Pinterest boards. We wanted one trustworthy place.
What we believe
- Play is learning. Young children build language, math, social skills and problem solving through hands-on play.
- Simple beats fancy. The best learning materials are often homemade, cheap and reused all year.
- Grown-ups learn from each other. That’s why every article has comments and our community lets teachers and parents share what really works.
How we make money
We keep the site free with ads and affiliate links, and by selling our own preschool workbooks. When we recommend a product, it’s because we have used it or something just like it with real children. Read our affiliate disclosure.
